These images capture the celebration that took place on December 13, 2009 at the Israel Metropolitan CME Church in Washington, DC.  Dr. Daryl Scott of Howard University was the keynote speaker.   Dr. Janet Sims-Wood, president of the Bethel Dukes Branch was Mistress of Ceremonies.

The Bethel Dukes Branch of ASALH continues the work of Dr. Carter G. Woodson in fostering knowledge about African Americans in America and throughout the world.  This is done through the sponsorship of speakers on black topics, the promotion of research on black subjects, providing tours to black history sites, and serving as a resource for the national organization.  New members are always welcome to this adventure in learning.
