The theme of the 84th Annual Black History Month Luncheon was "The History of Black Economic Empowerment" and the location was the Renaissance Washington, DC Hotel. While not intended to be an exhaustive representation of the events that took place, the images above capture some of the occasion including attendees, pre-luncheon activities, guest authors and some of the presentations. Ms. A'Lelia Bundles served as Mistress of Ceremonies and National Urban League President Marc Morial gave the keynote address. Noted authors in attendance and included in the images are Janet Langhart Cohen and Deborah Willis.
One of the highlights was the unveiling of a new Black Heritage Stamp honoring African American movie director Oscar Devereaux Micheaux by an official of the US Postal Service.
The event was well attended and an enjoyable occasion.
