Images of  the 49th State

Anchorage Alaska is an absolutely wonderful place to visit. These images were taken in 2004.  The Saturday festival was a great place to see Alaskan artifacts and to taste delicious food including salmon burgers, reindeer sausages, and apple slices with caramel.

The ride aboard the Alaska Railroad to Seward is remarkable.  Most of the time was spent standing in between the cars taking pictures of the breathtaking scenery.  A day cruise to see the glaciers was unbelievable.

I think that a lot of people would be surprised to learn that downtown Anchorage is not that different from most American cities with a Nordstrom, great restaurants, and noisy fun filled nightclubs.

During my ten day stay I saw a lot but it was just a very small part of Alaska.  What I did see was well worth the trip though.  It's a photographer's heaven.
